The purpose of this blog is to have one cohesive summary of the findings of the CAS 100C Social Norms Investigation group. Here we will have video logs of experiments we carry out, summaries and comments we wish to make, examples from the media we've found of typical social norms (or of people breaking them), and anything else we find or do that might be relevant. In this tight-knit community, the long-ago established norm is that every December, everyone gets together to celebrate Christmas at the Krank residence. This year, however, the Kranks decide to "skip Christmas" and go away on a Caribbean cruise since their only daughter has gone away to South America. Watch the trailer and see how disturbed and angry the neighbors get when the Kranks decide to violate a norm that is very important to this particular community.
This illustrates how arbitrary norms can be. Great job!
